RAISES CONTROVERSIAL REPARATIONS FLAG WITH MARCH AND TEACH-IN!   On Saturday, May 21st, the Peoples Organization for Progress (POP) will host a March, rally and teach-in on the controversial issue of reparations.   The theme of the action packed event is 'Know Your History: Demand Reparations!'   Participants will assemble at Broad and Market Streets in Newark at 12 noon. At the conclusion of the March and rally, organizers will host a showing of the moving documentary "Before They Die," at the Newark Public Library. The documentary delineates the violent destruction of what was known as 'Black Wall Street,' a model Black community that thrived in spite of segregation, in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1921, as told by the survivors of this horrendous event themselves.   The Newark Public Library is located at 5 Washington Street, Newark.   "Obtaining Reparations is the apex of the unresolved issue of what happened to our ancestors and the residual paramount issues of ongoing discrimination and institutional racism, which continues to undermine  and negatively impact our people and communities to this day" said Ingrid Hill, chairperson for the organization's Reparations Committee and correspondence secretary for the organization. "We must keep our Maafa experience alive every single day until such time that we, as a people, receive collective justice", she insisted emphatically.
