“End of the world” prophet and Family Radio station owner Harold Camping suffers a stroke.

"End of the world" prophet and Family Radio station owner Harold Camping suffers a stroke.

He was taken to a local hospital Thursday evening, though the news didn't break widely until the weekend. The Oakland Tribune says the 89-year-old Camping experienced the stroke at his Alameda, California home. It affected his right side, and a neighbor says "His speech appears to be a little bit slurred, but otherwise he's okay." The newspaper says Family Radio regional manager Charles Menut, posted this message on a Yahoo group - "Please, just pray for him and do not try to contact anyone at his home or Family Radio." Once the May 21 rapture date came and went, Camping adjusted his earlier prediction, saying there had been a silent visit by God, and that he was sticking with his original October 21 end-of-the-world prediction. No word when he might return to his usual daily 90-minute live "Open Forum", syndicated across the many Family Radio stations. The Religious-Contemporary Christian Board of Radio-Info.com has had plenty to say about Camping.
