Help Doctors Without Borders Save Malnourished Children

Malnourished children need more than just food to recover and survive.

They need nutrient-rich therapeutic foods – and the sickest children also need intensive medical care.

Donate now to bring lifesaving medical care to more malnourished children and others who need our help the most.

Dear Robert,

Right now in Batil and Yida refugee camps in South Sudan, Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) teams are treating more than 1,800 children for malnutrition.

Our medical teams in the field use simple tools like color-coded arm bands to help quickly identify malnourished children, and we provide 33-cent packets of nutrient-enriched, ready-to-use therapeutic food (RUTF) to treat them fast.

Donate now to help Doctors Without Borders deliver therapeutic foods and emergency medical treatment to children suffering from malnutrition and bring urgent care to people in nearly 70 countries around the world.

Children under five are the most vulnerable to malnutrition because they need specific nutrients to survive and thrive. At least five children under five years of age die of malnutrition-related causes every minute because it leaves them far more susceptible to disease.

Doctors Without Borders treats the majority of malnourished children with packets of RUTF – which we provide to mothers to heal their children at home. We hospitalize only the most severely malnourished children who also suffer from diseases such as tuberculosis, and provide them with intensive, round-the-clock treatment.

In the Batil and Yida refugee camp in South Sudan, our teams helped reduce death rates from catastrophic levels, though much more still needs to be done. This lifesaving work wouldn't have been possible without the support of donors like you.

Here's how your support can help:

  • $35 can purchase a scale used to weigh children too young or too weak to stand on their own.
  • $75 can purchase lifesaving treatment for 75 young children suffering from malaria.
  • $100 can purchase chlorination equipment to provide 1,150 patients with clean drinking water for one week.
  • $500 can purchase ready-to-use therapeutic food (RUTF) to treat 17 children suffering from severe malnutrition.

Donate now and help Doctors Without Borders emergency teams treat children suffering from severe malnutrition and provide urgent medical care wherever it is needed most.

Your support allows us to send teams to remote places like Batil and Yida in South Sudan, and reach children who desperately need therapeutic foods and medical care – and we know there are thousands still in need of our help.

Thank you in advance for your generous support.

Sincerely,

Sophie Delaunay, Executive Director
