March 29: NYPD, NRA and LICH
Rockaway Point: City Council Speaker Christine Quinn is trying to straddle the fence by supporting Police Commissioner Ray Kelly on one side and calling for an inspector general to oversee the Police Department on the other. As a retired police officer who served in the NYPD for more than 33 years, often representing officers in disciplinary proceedings, it has been my observation that NYPD officers are the most scrutinized and disciplined anywhere — never more so than today.
