NYPD Deputy Courts De Blasio in Puerto Rico

NYPD Deputy Commissioner Rafael Pineiro apparently met "secretly" with Bill de Blasio in Puerto Rico, where the mayor-elect attended a conference, then took a brief post-election vacation. Pineiro is the highest-ranking Latino member of the department, and as the New York Post noted, the NYPD Hispanic Society had been urging de Blasio to hire him to replace Ray Kelly. De Blasio's people wouldn't comment, but he's got to make a decision on a new commissioner soon, so it's hard to believe the meeting was a simple friendly chat.
