Fwd: [SOA~2013] RE: Kings Plaza

ur children are upset with us because we have not built YOUTH DEPOTS yet. Do not punish them, their behavior is our fault. We have not taught them to channel their anger and frustrations towards good use; like demanding Reparations, or sports, or marching for better schools and opportunities.....

Greetings all!

The incident that took place at Kings Plaza the other day, where groups of teens committed disorderly conduct, is yet another example of why we need YOUTH DEPOTS.  Youth Depots are the reformation of the Village that is needed to effectively nurture, educate, and develop our children.

It is necessary for us to provide community service as a prerequisite to college and the world of work- something to put on their resumes, and write in their essays. I strongly believe involvement in ones community should not be a punishment as a remedy for after a teen commits a negative act- we have failed if we do this. Teens should be consistently, (pro)actively, and affirmatively involved in our communities.

A punishment should be something that corrects a behavior, and allows time for reflection. Give writing assignments, extra time at home, and away from all electronic devises, for example.

Teens are not little children, and they are not yet adults. They need a place- a safe place to progressively grow, constructively convene, and be directly exposed to many positive activities and mentors.

Let us build the 1st Youth Depot this New Year 2014. I look forward to your assistance, guidance, and leadership.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Dr. Jackie
