On a Wing This three-part series at Belvedere Castle helps children discover various "winged" animals in Central Park's habitats, culminating in a day-long celebration of the Park's wildlife! May 3: Bee is for Biodiversity (12:00 pm – 1:30 pm) May 10: Why Birds Matter (12:00 pm – 1:30 pm) May 17: On a Wing Festival (12:00 pm – 3:00 pm) Ponds, Pipes, and People: Water in Central Park Exhibit Discover the significance of water in the history and design of Central Park and explore its aquatic habitats in the Conservancy's newest exhibit at the Charles A. Dana Discovery Center. Daily, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm This exhibit is made possible by Keeping it Green for Families Spend quality time with your family helping keep Central Park green. Central Park Conservancy environmental educators will lead mulching and leaf-raking projects throughout the Park. Ages 5+. Closed-toe shoes required. Families only; no groups. Space is limited; advance registration required. May 4 / May 18 This program is made possible by Discovery Kits Borrow a free Woodland Discovery Kit equipped with binoculars, a hand lens, and flora/fauna guides and begin your Central Park adventure! Four different Discovery Journals ($2 each, free for members) include suggested activities and kid-friendly maps to guide your exploration. Best for ages 6 – 10. Pick yours up at the Belvedere Castle or Charles A. Dana Discovery Center any day between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm. Birding for Families Central Park comes alive with birds every spring! Explore this migratory hot spot with NYC Audubon Society experts and Conservancy Discovery Guides and learn how to spot the migratory and native birds that call Central Park home.
