P.O.P. MARKS BLACK PANTHER PARTY FOUNDING ANNIVERSARY
WITH IN-HOUSE TEACH-IN BY ZAYID MUHAMMAD
 
On Thursday, October 16th, Zayid Muhammad, a highly respected cub of the NY chapter of the Black Panther Party and the recently retired national minister of culture for the New Black Panther Party, will do  a ‘People’s History of the Black Panther Party’ at the P.O.P. general assembly meeting.
 
The meeting takes place at the Abyssinian Baptist Church, 224 West Kinney Street, Newark. Doors open at 6:30pm.
 
Muhammad, perhaps best known for his longtime mobilizing efforts in support of Black Panthers who are in prison because they were FBI COINTELPRO targets, will conduct a teach in to mark the anniversary of the founding of the Black Panther Party. He has worked closely with NY Panthers Dhoruba Bin Wahad and the late Safiya Bukhari Alston, both former political prisoners, among others.
 
The Black Panther Party was founded on October 15, 1966 by the late Huey P. Newton and others in Oakland, California…

TABLE TALK WITH P.O.P.-IMPORTANT FUNDRAISER!
 
On Friday, October 24th, the Montclair Branch will host its annual Table Talk With P.O.P., an exciting all-you-can-eat fundraiser for this tireless organization.
 
It all takes place at St. Peter Claver Church, located at 56 Elmwood Avenue in Montclair. Doors open at 7pm.
 
The evening will feature a community based salute to the late Mary Weaver, P.O.P’s most beloved vice chair and founder of the organization’s East Orange Branch…
 
P.O.P. SHOWING FILM ‘PRESUMPTION OF GUILT’!
 
On Thursday, October 30th, the People’s Organization for Progress will host a special showing of the critically acclaimed documentary ‘Presumption of Guilt: Race, Class and Crime in America,’ as apart of their participation in ‘Mass Incarceration Resistance Month,’ at their general assembly meeting.
