November 13, 2014–March 8, 2015. | | | November Program Highlights | | |  | To kickoff our slate of programming for the Fall/Winter season, we are excited to announce that the 2014–15 artists in residence, Sadie Barnette, Lauren Halsey and Eric Mack, will be welcoming visitors to their studios on Sunday, November 16, from 1–6 PM. All three artists will be present to answer questions and discuss their unique practices. Next week, join us for this month's installment of Studio Salon as we celebrate the opening of Speaking of People: Ebony, Jet and Contemporary Art and present a book signing of Vintage Black Glamour by author Nichelle Gainer on Thursday, November 20 from 6–8 PM. Drawing on Gainer's extensive research of black media archives for her illustrious blog, Vintage Black Glamour presents historic photographs and biographies of prolific, early twentieth-century black scholars. This book promises to be an important addition to the black history archives! In addition to our programs during the week, on Target Free Sundays we offer free admission every Sunday thanks to the generous support of Target! Stop by the museum on November 16 for a free tour of Speaking of People at 1 PM and our family program Hands On: Archives and Photocolage with The Laundromat Project at 2 PM. On November 23, be sure to catch a free tour of Under Another Name at 1 PM and then stick around for Hands On: Sculpt and Sketch at 2 PM! Our annual Trunk Show Series will begin tomorrow, November 14 through November 16 from 12–6 PM in our Museum Store with creations designed by artist Khali Keyi. His unique, handmade bags are made from cow leather and beautifully embellished with an array of natural elements and found objects. Keyi will also be featuring his collection of restored chairs and shadow boxes, along with wall art and paintings. | | | We are also thrilled to announce that the limited edition MZ Wallace x Glenn Ligon is finally available for purchase! Ligon has lent the silkscreen

Shop the tote online and in our Museum Store! | | | | Check out our Director and Chief Curator, Thelma Golden and artist Glenn Ligon as they stroll down the streets of Harlem and the stylish Melanie with her tote in the heart of SoHo! | | One of the education programs that will benefit from the proceeds of the MZ Wallace x Glenn Ligon tote is the Expanding the Walls program. Expanding the Walls: Making Connections Between Photography, History and Community is an eight-month photography-based program for a select group of students enrolled in a high school or GED program. ETW uses the work of renowned Harlem photographer, James VanDerZee, as a catalyst for discussion and art-making. Students participate in a series of art workshops, discussion groups and field excursions while learning the basics of digital photography. Spread the word! The deadline for ETW 2015 applications has been extended to November 25!
Another exciting initiative from our education department is the Museum Education Practicum! This free, 8-week course is an intensive training program designed to provide emerging museum and arts educators with an in-depth look at museum education with the guidance of the Studio Museum's knowledgeable Education department. To learn even more about this program, visit us on November 20, from 5–6:30 PM for an information session lead by the program's talented coordinator!
Last but not least, our curatorial team would like to announce that they are looking for a Curatorial Fellow! The Fellow will be involved in the coordination and organization of artist’s projects; will work directly on exhibition installation and documentation; catalogue production; develop interpretive materials; and develop and mount a curatorial project. The position is a paid, eighteen month-long commitment requiring 30 hours per week in the office (not to include weekends). The deadline for applications is Monday,
